ANTEQUERA TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
Antequera is a wonderful and historic town that lies north of Malaga and south of Cordoba. The town of Antequera is a mixture of modern and historic buildings and a place that is very “Andalucia”

Naming all the places to visit in Antequera would take up pages on this website. So, I will be providing links to websites that are of interest.

For a start, there are more than 30 churches. Many of them elegant and ornate, so much so, the town is referred to as the “Florence of Andalucia”.

My first link for you is to the Lonely Planet website where you will find a good list of sites to visit.

Antequera: Moors, Romans and Spaniards
To understand the town of Antequera, you really need to look back over the long history that has made it the historic gem that it is. Go way back!

One of the top tourist attractions to Antequera is the Dolmens. Located at the heart of Andalusia in southern Spain, the site comprises three megalithic monuments: the Menga and Viera dolmens and the Tholos of El Romeral, and two natural monuments: La Peña de los Enamorados and El Torcal mountainous formations, which are landmarks within the property.

They were built during the Neolithic and Bronze Age out of large stone blocks, these monuments form chambers with lintelled roofs or false cupolas.
